Johnston Christmas Letter
Merry Christmas 2010!
MUSINGS – It’s always a bit daunting for me to sit down and try to chronicle an entire year of living onto one page…No matter what I choose to write, this is truly just a glimpse into what makes us, well… us! I suppose that if a picture is worth a 1,000 words, then you’ll be able to look at our Christmas card picture (all 15 of them!) and fill in some of the blanks from what I’ll be leaving out here!
KINGSVIEW – Oh, it’s been an amazing year at our church…I started volunteering 1-2 days a week in the office back in April, so it’s been nice to be around during the week as well as on Sundays. We continue to see growth in so many areas. Jeff has been focusing on raising up our volunteers and equipping them to serve effectively. He’s also been preaching his heart out and can I just say that I am so proud of him? We were able to hire a children’s pastor this fall and have already seen such an improvement in the quality of our kids programs under her care. Both the Women’s and Men’s Ministries started Bible studies this fall, and I am thrilled to see a hunger for the Word of God growing in our people. Our Family Fall Festival drew over 500 people this year, most from our neighbouring community. We continue to have so much faith and expectation about the future of Kingsview. Thank you, Jesus! http://www.kvcommunitychurch.com
LOVE – I think it’s safe to say that although we can’t exactly call ourselves newlyweds anymore (11 years+ of marriage), we are still very much in love. We were able to take another cruise this year, thanks in part to Jeff’s insistence that we need that time away together, and trust me, I’m not going to argue with that! I cherish our friendship more every year.
MORE LOVE – Carter is 7 now, and just celebrated his birthday with a Mad Scientist party. Slime, experiments and cotton candy flowed freely! He still constantly says things that boggle my mind…for instance; a few weeks ago we were discussing the frost on the ground… “But I thought we were getting global warming?!”. He was playing at a neighbour’s house recently and was asked by the boy’s dad if he had any allergies. Carter told him, “Yes, to hydrogen and nitrogen.”…Jerry replied, ”Oh, so rice cakes are ok?”…we just laugh and laugh! He’s soft-hearted too; Every night he prays “I pray for the RAN worker missionaries (this means missionaries in restricted access nations), that their money would come in, that they won’t be put in jail and that they would make Jesus famous.” His recent obsession is with Beyblades…who knew little spinning tops would translate into hours of fun?
Our little Mykah is 3 ½ and is growing up fast. She is unbelievably sweet, and now will only refer to me as “kissaroo”. J She is my shadow around the house, sorting laundry, putting things away, and whatever else she decides that she can do. She had her first real haircut this summer and got her ears pierced as well. She is always trying to get me to paint her nails and put makeup on her, and it is not uncommon for her to compliment me (or strangers) on articles of jewelry & clothing that she likes. And, wow, is she a shopper! She is truly ALL-GIRL! It probably goes without saying that she is into Princesses, Barbies, Polly Pockets, Littlest Pet Shops and Dress-up, right?
EVEN MORE LOVE? – Our dear friend, Katie, who lived with us for the past two years, just moved out and I think we should be filling that spare room up with another Johnston, Hmmmm….let’s pray for God’s will, shall we? ONLY KIDDING!!!! What this REALLY means, is we have more room for friends and family to visit us – We LOVE guests! J
At Christmas and always, we pray God’s richest blessings over your life!
Love: Jeff, Carrie, Carter & Mykah Johnston
