Isaiah 43:18-19 “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
It’s that time of year again when we are plotting and strategizing about how to maximize our lives and ourselves for 2011. To be honest, I had a pretty amazing 2010…lots of memories with family, friends and my church. My calendar alone could prove that I was no slacker in 2010, and I don’t look back in any sort of regret. (ok, maybe just a tiny bit of regret over how much Christmas baking I consumed.)
My life feels pretty full.
And yet, I can’t read these verses without feeling a sense of excitement about what is to come. I am reminding myself that God still wants to do a brand new thing in me and in my life. He is not done with me yet. And no matter what this new year holds, mountains or valleys, good times or bad, trials or parties, blessings or sorrows…I choose to trust Him. I don’t want to just hold on to what I have of Jesus from former memories and former knowledge of His Word, I want new streams on the inside of me.
If I am making one resolution this year, it would be to actually SEE and PERCEIVE the new thing He is doing. Open my eyes, Lord!
Oswald Chambers…”Have you been asking God what He is going to do? He will never tell you. God does not tell you what He is going to to; He reveals to you Who He is. Do you believe in a miracle-working God, and will you go out in surrender to Him until you are not surprised an atom at anything He does?”
